The Now: A State of the Species
For all those who have to pause and scratch their heads and say "now,
after the Palace reappeared... Dewshine went back to Thorny Mountain - wait,
she had never been to Thorny Mountain... and after the Shards War....
wait!" here is a helpful guide of the current state of affairs on the
World of Two Moons. Unfornately the timeline is somewhat shaky - the latest
information on the Wolfriders and Sunfolk comes from "Full Circle",
the newest Elfquest tale, while Ember has been followed fifty years into the
future, and Rayek, four hundred years! So bear with me and follow the links
through the Now of Abode.
THE WOLFRIDERS
The Wolfriders split in two tribes at the start of the Shards War, and, after a
little shuffling following the fall of Sorrow's End and the battle at Howling
Rock, remained in two distinct tribes, one of the elders, one of the younger
Wolfriders. Cutter led his band of Wolfriders back to Iceholt, the original
land of the Wolfriders, where they tried to build a new Father Tree Holt.
Suntop's spiritual education was recently completed, and he earned himself the
new name Sunstream.
THE WILD HUNT
Formerly the Howling Rock Wolfriders, the reformed tribe got its name from its
several-year battle with the Shapechanged around Port Bane. They have since
abandoned Howling Rock Holt, and now, fifty-two years after they separated from
the Wolfriders, the Wild Hunt lives at Khulki's Mountain, led by Cutter's
daughter Ember. The most recent Wild Hunt tale "Recognition" brings
the fate of the Go-Back Chieftess Kahvi into the continuing storyline.
PALACE DWELLERS AND SEEKERS
The Sun Folk were forced to abandon Sorrow's End, and now dwell in the Palace.
Savah still leads the Sun Folk, but they have been joined by Timmain the High
One, and Skywise, the newest Master of the Palace. In addition, there are the
seekers, who use the Palace as a base from which to conduct wide ranging
searches across the World of Two Moon. Included in the seekers are Venka,
Aroree and Two-Edge, who are looking for Kahvi, Venka's mother.
ROGUES AND LONERS
Included in this are those elves with no tribes, wanderers who travel alone. Rayek
and Ekuar, in the Rogue's Curse series, journey across the face of Abode four
hundred years after the Shards War. In Fire-Eye, Jethel and Chot continue to
explore the depths of the Forevergreen. Kahvi has been declared dead, yet her
fate is still shrouded in mystery, while Tyldak is still missing and may return
sometime in the near future. And Windkin continues to dip in and out of other
storylines as he explores the World of Two Moons by himself.
THE LOST TRIBE
A memorial to the Wolfriders who have died since the beginning of the Original
Quest. Includes One-Eye, casualty of the Palace War; the family of Woodlock and
Rainsong, and their descendents, who lived and died in Sorrow's End during the
10,000 years that the Palace was locked in the future; and the fallen heroes of
the Shards War, who died in the quest to reassemble the crashed Palace.
WAVEDANCERS
The newest tribe on the World of Two Moons, the Wavedancers live at Crest
Point, and the southern tip of the New Land. Their continuing story chronicles
their battles with Ardan Djarum, a descendant of the famous Grohmul Djun of the
Shards War. Halfway around the world, in the Forevergreen jungle live two orphaned
Wavedancers, the sole survivors of an expedition massacred by humans.
