WINNOWILL
She is the Energizer bunny of villany. From originally being intended as
a five-issue girl, she's expanded to torment the World of Two Moons for
twenty years plus. She's revived herself from the brink of death at least
six times, shaped herself into a Wavedancer and a human, and spent ten
thousand years making mutants to pass the time. Even dead you can't shut
her up - as a spirit she keeps trying to kill Rayek, and even
shaped his own body into hers!
GUTTLEKRAW
He menaced Ekuar, he damn near cut off half of the poor guy's body,
and he wore Osek and Mekda's fingers as a crown. He condemned Vaya to slow
torture, he enslaved Picknose, and he ate High Ones know how
many Go-Backs for lunch. Being ripped apart by Warfrost at the end of the
Original Quest was a poetic end for this one.
BEARCLAW
Some see Cutter's dad as a "grand old elf." I see him as one of the
worst things to ever hit the Wolfriders. He was directly responsible to
the deaths of Crescent, Shale, Eyes High, Rain, Longbranch, Brownberry,
and Foxfur, just to name a few. He was even to blame for his own lifemate's
death. He abused Joyleaf and Cutter whenever his temper got the better
of him. He drank, he stole, he murdered, and his anger gave birth to the
worst monster ever created before Winnowill's time.
MADCOIL
A close second after Bearclaw is his "child" Madcoil. Joined from a
snake and longtooth, this Abodean dragon decimated half the Wolfrider tribe
all in its desired to meet up with "Papa Bearclaw." He killed Bearclaw,
Bearclaw fatally wounded him and left him half-lame for Cutter to finish
off. Good riddance to both.
DOOR
Mmm, what a sexy little protege of Winnowill's. He starts off an old
man in a skullcap, but the longer New Blood keeps going, the younger he
gets. He lures Suntop to the Forevergreen with a false sending, turns Windkin
to the Dark Side briefly, and Recognizes Dodia, much to the latter's combined
anguish and ecstasy. It seems Dodia killed him with a blow
to the head, but there's talk he's still rockshaping up a storm in the
Forevergreen. Who knows?
SCOUTER
Whew. Scouter has gotten on everyone's nerves in his 500 years on Abode.
He's verbally attacked Skywise, Pike, Ember, Yun, Redlance and even his
own lifemate Tyleet. During his short-lived stint as chief he tried and/or
threatened to kill Ember a record 4 times! (Let's count: he left her for
dead in the snow, he threatened to "take them down, all of them" when Ember
and Teir joined forces with Lehrigen, he told Ember he'd tear her throat
out, and he tried to shoot her with an arrow at the final standoff.) And
Ember never thumped him once when he finally showed throat?
TWO-SPEAR
Madness seems to really run in Timmorn's bloodline. Two-Spear split
the Wolfrider tribe, beat his sister near to death, abused his lifemate
Willowgreen and his cousin Graywolf, and murdered (he thought) his daughter
Kahvi. In fact, he was spoiling for a chance to kill her in
combat for years. I think he always suspected she was really Graywolf's
daughter. Whatever happened to Two-Spear? I figure he finally attacked
one too many humans and got a little payback.
GROHMUL
DJUN
Good ol' Grommy, bane of the Citadel Mound, villain of the Shards War,
and the only human confirmed to have actually had sex with Winnowill and
survived. As a villain, he's pretty formulaic. As Cutter said, "just biggest
bear in forest." But he's so prolific, and so damn hard to kill. Oddly
enough, he survived being burned, shot, and crushed under the wreckage
of the citadel, but can't stand in a fight against his weed of a son.
NUNKAH
Aka Spider, Nunkah is a prime user and abuser. As Shuna's first husband,
he wooed her with what she took to be a "charming" possessiveness, telling
her she'd never have to lift a finger to take care of herself again. Within
a month of marriage, he was cheating on her. But as soon as she looks at
another man, he beats her up and tells her he owns her. Oh yeah - and he
shoots Kimo! Fortunately for all concerned (except Nunkah), Shuna recovered
her warrior spirit, and gave him a quickie divorce elf-style. Nunkah crawled back to his village, where he probably
never got laid again.
THE MISFIT TROLLS
I love these guys. They're so cute! Zombie-fied trolls who have
lost all their culture and skill, they lurch around the tunnels of Greymung's
old kingdom, groaning "Treasure, treasure..." and groping for anything
shiny. They also managed to separate Treestump and his blasted phallic
sword (albeit briefly). They rank low because they aren't much of a villainous
army, but I had to include them for charisma points. Look at these freak
out and whimper when Treestump gets his damned sword back. Poor little
dimwits. If Warp ever sells a misfit troll plushie, I'll run out and buy
one.
MOST
TORTURED SOUL: TWO-EDGE
Two-Edge is just a little too gray to be a villain (like Rayek, and
much to my sorrow, Cutter). He's certainly the most tortured of all the
creatures. Even Rayek's only had to put up with Winnowill for about four
hundred years so far. Two-Edge had spent millennia being driven mad by
his sadistic mother. You have to feel sorry for this guy. I don't feel
sorry enough for him to suggest he and Venka hook up, and some people seem
to want (he'd break her, the poor thing). But I hope travelling with her
(it's obvious he's mad about her, though not in a lovemate way, I don't
think) will sort him out a little more.
